Immerse yourself in a mystical underwater world.

When a young mermaid is finally allowed her first glimpse of life beyond the ocean, she is enthralled by what she sees. After falling desperately in love with a man, she will do anything she can to live a human life.

Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic fairytale, David Nixon has directed and choreographed this world premiere production  which is touring the UK until the 5th May 2018.

This production features designs by Kimie Nakano (sets), Tim Mitchell (lighting) and David Nixon OBE (costumes). The production also features an original score by Sally Beamish.

Talking about the production Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director David Nixon said: “The Little Mermaid is an enchanting story and the fantastical underwater world of the mermaids evokes such beautiful imagery that it will be an excellent addition to our repertoire. So many people have grown up with this classic tale and so I am looking forward to reintroducing audiences to the world beyond the waves.”

The Little Mermaid is the last of the unprecedented three full-length World Premières held by Northern Ballet in 2017 following the World Premières of Casanova in March 2017 and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas in May 2017.

The Little Mermaid will play at the New Victoria Theatre in Woking from the 21st until the 25th November before continuing to tour. To book tickets visit: ATG Tickets.
