NEWS: Jim Broadbent to Star in New Martin McDonagh Play

It has been announced that the acclaimed actor will star in the world premiere of  A Very Very Very Dark Matter at the Bridge Theatre from the 10th October 2018.

In a townhouse in Copenhagen works Hans Christian Andersen, a teller of exquisite and fantastic children’s tales beloved by millions. But the true source of his stories dwells in his attic upstairs, her existence a dark secret kept from the outside world.

Directed by Matthew Dunster, Martin McDonagh’s latest play follows on from National Theatre and Broadway hit The Pillowman, which also starred Jim Broadbent. The production will also feature designs by  Anna Fleischle.

Jim Broadbent is a critically acclaimed actor, winning an Oscar for his performance in the 2001 Richard Eyre film Iris. Meanwhile, his stage credits include A Christmas Carol (Noel Coward Theatre) and Theatre of Blood (National Theatre).

Further casting and creative team have yet to be announced for the production, as is the rest of the venue’s 2018 programme.

London’s newest theatre, the Bridge Theatre officially opened its doors for the very first time last month, with a production of Young Marx – Richard Bean’s latest play and directed by Nicholas Hytner.

Other productions in the theatre’s programme also includes  Julius Caesar starring Ben Whishaw and Barney Norris’ new play Nightfall.
