The Royal Court Theatre has announced that actress Carey Mulligan has been cast in its upcoming production of Girls & Boys.
“I met my husband in the queue to board an easyJet flight and I have to say I took an instant dislike to the man.”
An unexpected meeting at an airport leads to an intense, passionate, head-over-heels relationship. Before long they begin to settle down, buy a house, juggle careers, have kids – theirs is an ordinary family. But then their world starts to unravel and things take a disturbing turn.
“I don’t remember exactly when things with us started to go properly wrong – I just remember suddenly finding myself in it.”
Playing at the Royal Court Theatre from the 8th February, Girls & Boys is the new play by Dennis Kelly and is set to be directed by Lyndsey Turner.
This production will see Mulligan return to the Royal Court Theatre having previously performed alongside Kristin Scott Thomas and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the acclaimed 2007 revival of The Seagull. Her other stage credits include appearing alongside Bill Nighy in Stephen Daldry’s revival of the David Hare drama Skylight.
Girls & Boys will also feature designs by Es Devlin, with costumes by Jack Galloway, lighting by Oliver Fenwick and sound by Dave McSeveney.
Girls & Boys will play at the Royal Court Theatre from the 8th February until the 17th March. For more information visit: https://royalcourttheatre.com/whats-on/girls-and-boys/.
