Bartlett Sher’s production of the musical will transfer to the London Palladium following a successful run at the Lincoln Center Theatre in New York in 2015.

The production, which won four Tony Awards, will see Kelli O’Hara and Ken Watanabe, who will both reprise their roles as Anna and The King. Both were nominated for their roles, with O’Hara winning the award for Best Leading Actress.

Set in 1860s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children.

As well as featuring the classic songs ‘Getting to Know You’ and ‘Shall We Dance?’, the production will also feature sets by Michael Yeargan, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Donald Holder and sound by Scott Lehrer.

Kelli O’Hara made her first Broadway appearance in the 2000 Broadway production of Jekyll and Hyde. She also is a six-time Tony Award nominee following roles in shows such as The Light in the Piazza (2005), The Pajama Game (2006) and South Pacific (2008).

Ken Watanabe was  the first Japanese actor to be nominated for a Tony Award following the Broadway revival of The King and I, which was also his Broadway debut.
