Rebecca Frecknall’s production will play at the Almeida Theatre from the 24th February.
Tennessee Williams’ play is a story of love, loneliness and self-destruction and wasn’t performed in London until October 2006 in Adrian Noble’s production starring Rosamund Pike and Chris Carmack at the Apollo Theatre.
Now the Almeida Theatre will present this new production of Williams’ play, directed by Rebecca Frecknall. The production will also feature designs by Tom Scutt, lighting designs by Lee Curran, compositions by Angus MacRae and sound by Carolyn Downing.
In the heat of summer – under the wings of an angel – Alma meets John.
Trapped between desire and fear in a life of obligation, her world turns upside down in the search for salvation.
Casting for the production is set to include: Patsy Ferran, Seb Carrington, Nancy Crane, Eric MacLennan, Forbes Masson, Matthew Needham, Tok Stephen and Anjana Vasan.
