NEWS: Further Casting and Extension Announced for The King and I

Due to popular demand, it has been confirmed that The King and I will now play at the London Palladium until September.

In addition to news of the extended run, further casting for the London run has also been confirmed. Joining the previously announced Ken Watanabe and Kelli O’Hara will be Tony Award winner Ruthie Ann Miles who will play the role of Lady Thiang in Bartlett Sher’s production.

Ruthie Ann Miles originally played the role of the King’s chief wife on Broadway when the production ran at New York’s Lincoln Center Theater, which led to her winning he Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

Featuring some of the most memorable songs in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s repertoire such as ‘Shall We Dance?’ and ‘Getting to Know you’, The King and I follows the story of Anna, an English teacher employed by the King of Siam in an effort to try and modernise his country, but their relationship and its conflicts takes its toll.

The production features set designs by Michael Yeargan, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Donald Holder and sound by Scott Leher.
