In this new reimagining of Verdi’s incendiary tale of sex, class and power, La Traviata is brought into 2018 in the new English version by Becca Marriott and Helena Jackson.

England, 2018. Violetta earns her crust dancing for the rich and powerful at an exclusive gentleman’s club until a chance meeting with naive and idealistic Elijah changes everything. The powerful collide with the powerless, with earth shattering consequences for all involved. Combining Verdi’s breathtaking music with a new English version from Becca Marriott and Helena Jackson, this is La Traviata exposed, uncovered and redefined for the twenty first century.

The production is directed by Helena Jackson, who has recently graduated from the King’s Head Theatre’s Trainee Resident Director’s scheme along with several members of the creative team behind La Boheme and Tosca.

Talking about the news of the production Artistic Director of the King’s Head Theatre Adam Spreadbury-Maher said: “Verdi’s powerful tragedy may have been written over one-hundred years ago but its searing examination of privilege and exploitation is directly relevant to twenty-first century struggles. I can’t wait to share our uncovered, exposed and redefined new version with audiences.”

La Traviata will play at the King’s Head Theatre from the 27th September until the 27th October. For more information and to book tickets visit: http://www.kingsheadtheatre.com/
