The Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch has confirmed details of its Autumn season to mark the theatre’s 65th year.
The theatre’s new season will open with Mike Leigh’s Abigail’s Party, which will play at the venue from the 30th August until the 22nd September, a co-production between Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch, Derby Theatre, Wiltshire Creative and international partner Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg.
Derby Theatre and Queen’s Theatre have also commissioned Abi by Atiha Sen Gupta, a new piece of writing as part of Derby Theatre’s RETOLD series, which comprises of new one-woman plays. Running alongside Abigail’s Party, it will play from the 4th to the 22nd September.
This will then be followed by the UK regional premiere of the musical Once which will play at the theatre from the 3rd to the 20th October. Based on the hit film, the cast will include an ensemble of actor-musicians.
From the 1st to the 17th November, the theatre will present Haunting Julia by Alan Ayckbourn. It is a tense study of grief and the supernatural,punctuated with trademark wit.
The venue will also play host to two visiting productions: Dishoom! a new play by Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti comes to the Queen’s Theatre as part of a national tour from 25th to the 29th September and LOVE, written by Alexander Zeldin, transfers to the Queen’s Theatre from 25th to the 27th October, and is co-produced by the National Theatre and Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
