The London production of the musical is set to have its final performance at the Savoy Theatre on the 12th January 2019.
Having opened at the Savoy Theatre in 2016, the Casey Nicholaw directed and choreographed production will continue to play at the theatre until the beginning of 2019, before embarking on a UK tour – details of which are to be announced shortly.
Meet The Dreams – Effie, Lorrell and Deena – three talented young singers in the turbulent 1960s, a revolutionary time in American music history. Join the three friends as they embark upon a musical rollercoaster ride through a world of fame, fortune and the ruthless realities of show business, testing their friendships to the very limit.
Dreamgirls features book and lyrics by Tom Eyen and music by Henry Krieger and originally opened on Broadway in 1981, directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, going on to win six Tony awards. In 2006 the musical was transformed into an Oscar winning motion picture starring Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx.
The production stars Marisha Wallace, Moya Angela and Karen Mav sharing the iconic role of Effie White as well as Joe Aaron Reid, Tosh Wanogho-Maud, Asmeret Ghebremichael and Brennyn Lark.
Meanwhile, the creative team for the production includes: set design by Tim Hatley, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, sound design by Richard Brooker and hair design by Josh Marquette.
