The Royal Albert Hall is set to present a semi-staged production of the classic musical for three performances only on the 19th and 20th October.
Featuring classic songs such as ‘Luck Be a Lady’, ‘Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat’ and ‘My Time of Day’, this new semi-staged production will be directed and choreographed by Olivier Award winner Stephen Mear.
Join the smooth Sky Masterson, sweet, sad, cold-prone Miss Adelaide, no-good Nathan Detroit and the straight-talking, gambling-opposing Sarah Brown for this unmissable feel-good show.
Talking about the news Lucy Noble Artistic Director at the Royal Albert Hall, said: “We’re thrilled to announce this very special, limited run of Guys and Dolls: Live in Concert– the perfect musical-comedy – being presented by some of the finest talent in musical theatre.”
While the all-star casting has yet to be confirmed, the Royal Albert Hall has announced that the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra will be performing the classic score as well as musical direction by James McKeon, and will feature designs by Morgan Large.
Stephen Mear won Olivier Awards for his choreography on Mary Poppins (with Matthew Bourne) and Hello, Dolly!, and has also worked on West End shows such as Singin’ in the Rain, Sweet Charity and the acclaimed revival of Gypsy, starring Imelda Staunton.
James McKeon’s credits include last year’s UK tour of Miss Saigon, Evita at the Adelphi Theatre, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium.
The work of designer Morgan Large can currently be seen in Ruthless at the Arts Theatre, and Death Takes a Holiday at the Charing Cross Theatre. His previous credits include Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Novello Theatre), Othello (Sheffield Crucible) and Room on the Broom (worldwide).
Guys and Dolls will be performed at the Royal Albert Hall on the 19th and 20th October. Tickets go on sale at 10am Friday 15th June: https://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/events/2018/guys-and-dolls/
