NEWS: Casting Announced for The Woods

Casting has been confirmed for the Royal Court’s upcoming production of The Woods, directed by Royal Court Associate Director Lucy Morrison.

Playing at the theatre from the 5th September, it has been announced that Finn Bennett, Tom Mothersdale and Lesley Sharp are set to star in Lucy Morrison’s production of Robert Alan Evans’s play. Further casting has yet to be announced.

“Why you always got to dig things up?” A cabin deep in the woods.A lost boy buried in the snow.A lone woman. And her wolf. “You think you could keep him? You know where that ends up. Don’t you. You no good with kids.”

This new play from Robert Alan Evans sees him return to the Royal Court Theatre following a production of his A Girl in a Car with a Man. His other writing credits for theatre include: Crumble’s Search for Christmas (West Yorkshire Playhouse); The River (LAMDA Long Project); Little Boxes (Theatre Centre); Peter Pan [adaptation],The Sleeping Beauties (Sherman Cymru).

The production will feature design by Naomi Dawson, lighting by Anthony Arblaster, music and sound by Tom Gibbon and movement direction by Vicki Igbokwe.

Director Lucy Morrison’s previous productions for the Royal Court includes:  Lights Out/It’s All Made Up/The Space Between (The Site Programme), Plaques & Tangles, Live Lunch Series, Who Cares, Pests, Product (& Clean Break/Traverse/European tour).

Lesley Sharp is best known for her role in the ITV drama Scott & Bailey. She returns to the Royal Court having previously appeared in Ingredient X, Top Girls (& UK tour), Our Country’s Good, Greenland, Road, Shirley, Gone and Who Knew McKenzie.

Tom Mothersdale’s previous stage credits include: John, Cleansed (National); Oil (Almeida); The Glass Menagarie (UK Tour) and The Cherry Orchard (Young Vic).

Finn Bennett is best known for his television roles in Kiri, Liar, Cider with Rosie, Top Boy 2.
