Casting has been confirmed for Iris Theatre’s upcoming production of Arabian Nights playing at the Hoxton Hall from the 12th September.
Bringing to life the Arabian Nights in Daniel Winder’s production will be Izzy Jones, Maya Britto,Ikky Elyas, Sharon Singh, Hemi Yeroham and Pravessh Rana.
Iris Theatre’s production will see the Hoxton Hall transformed into the ancient world of the Middle East, performing famous stories such as Sinbad the Sailor and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, adapted for the stage by Nessah Muthy. The show will be filled with music, puppetry and dance to bring together ancient Arabic, Jewish, Greek, Indian, Persian and Turkish cultures.
At the grandest wedding of the year, amongst the music, magic and dance, King Shahryar’s tyranny looms. Every single night he marries a new girl and every single morning he has her killed. This cycle of violence has continued for years but with the executioner’s sword hanging over her neck, Sharazad starts to tell King Shahryar stories. With every beautiful tale she tells, she stretches out the thread of her life a little further.
Talking about the production Director Daniel Winder comments: “This fabulous cast of six has a wonderful diversity of talent, background and perspective. It has both young new graduates, and experienced stage performers, as well as more than a touch of beauty and glamour. After just a couple of days of rehearsals this cast have already become an exciting ensemble ideally suited to telling the complex and mysterious stories of the Arabian Nights.”
The production will feature set design by Amber Scarlett, puppet design by Jonny Dixon, lighting by Ben Polya and sound by Filipe Gomes.
Arabian Nights will play at the Hoxton Hall from the 12th September until the 13th October. For more information visit: https://www.hoxtonhall.co.uk/event/arabian-nights-2/.
