It has been confirmed Sara Bareilles and Jessie Nelson’s musical will take over the Adelphi Theatre from February 2019.
Currently running on Broadway, the Tony Award nominated musical is based on the 2007 film and will make its UK premiere at the Adelphi Theatre next year.
The story follows Jenna Hunterson, a waitress who loves baking pies and dreams of winning a pie contest – until an unexpected pregnancy comes and changes her plans.
Waitress made its Broadway debut in 2016 with Jessie Mueller starring as Jenna and going on to be nominated for four Tony Awards and six Drama Desk Awards, as well as a Grammy Award.
The UK production of the musical will have an all-female creative team which is set to include direction by Diane Paulus (Pippin) and choreography by Lorin Latarro (Les Liaisons Dangereuses).
Casting and full booking information will be available later on in the year.
