It has been confirmed that following its UK tour, Rip it Up – the 60’s will head to London’s Garrick Theatre from the 7th February 2019.
Bringing the 1960’s to the 21st century, Rip it Up – The 60’s will bring song, dance and acrobatics to the Garrick Theatre from February 2019 for a limited season.
The show is set to star Mcfly’s Harry Judd, JLS’s Aston Merrygold, Olympic gymnast Louis Smith and The Wanted’s Jay McGuinness – all having danced their way to success on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. They will be joined on stage by a cast of dancers, singers and the Rip it Up live band.
Rip it Up – The 60’s will see Aston and Jay singing some of the best music of the decade from artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Beach Boys, The Byrds, The Doors, and The Mamas & The Papas to name a few. Meanwhile, Harry will play the drums with Louis Smith displaying his gymnastic talents – all four of them will also be showcasing their dancing talent that forms the centre of the show.
Talking about the news Harry Judd said: “I love to dance. Along with playing in a band, there’s no better feeling than being on stage dancing. I was brought up listening to ‘60s music by my parents, which has made the whole show even more special to be a part of. Aston and Louis are both incredible performers, so I am looking forward to taking the show to the West End stage, and to welcoming Jay to the group.”
Meanwhile, Aston Merrygold commented: “It was so exciting to join the cast of Rip It Up on the 2018 UK tour. I felt like I had some unfinished business when it came to dance, and it’s been amazing to work with familiar faces. I’ve loved putting my own spin on some classic 60s moments and can’t wait to show that to a West End audience!”
