Ahead of its 20th anniversary in 2019, the hit musical production of Disney’s The Lion King has released a brand new trailer. 

Now booking until the  1st June 2019 for individuals and 29th September 2019 for Groups, The Lion King is now in its 19th year at London’s Lyceum Theatre.

Since it premiered n London on Tuesday 19th October 1999, the musical has seen 15 million theatregoers watch the show and still remains a popular show in the West End. It is currently the sixth longest running show in the West End of all time.

Directed by Julie Taymor, who also designed the costumes and co-designed the mask and puppetry designs, the musical features music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice. Other members of the creative team include a book co-written by Irene Mecchi and Roger Allers, choreography by Garth Fagan, sound by Steve Canyon Kennedy and hair and make up design by Michael Ward.

The cast for the production currently includes George Asprey as Scar, Shaun Escoffery as Mufasa, Gugwana Dlamini as Rafiki, Gary Jordan as Zazu, Ben Heathcote as Timon, Keith Bookman as Pumbaa, Nick Afoa as Simba and Janique Charles as Nala.

Set against the majesty of the Serengeti Plains to the evocative rhythms of Africa, THE LION KING uses breathtaking theatrical magic to tell the story of Simba’s epic journey to fulfil his destiny as King of the Pridelands.
