Reopening following a £27m restoration project, Alexandra Palace will celebrate Christmas with a special carnival that will also see the Alexandra Palace Theatre opening to the public for the first time in eighty years.
Running from the 1st to the 16th December, the Christmas Carnival will be filled with a huge variety of family friendly events such as a BBC Christmas Family Orchestra and Chorus Workshop which stretches across the opening day, a Christmas market (complete with Santa’s grotto) and the return of Ally Pally ice rink on which family favourite Aladdin will be performed.
Meanwhile, the Christmas Carnival will also see the reopening of the Alexandra Palace Theatre which will feature a variety of performances including Horrible Christmas from the Horrible Histories franchise – a tale of Christmas with Victorian villains and Medieval monks, Puritan parties and Tudor treats. Elsewhere, performances include Dylan Moran’s Dr. Cosmos which has toured the country to critical acclaim, a rare opportunity to listen in on Gilbert and George in conversation with Michael Bracewell, and sessions presented by Ronnie Scott’s.
For those feeling peckish, you will want to visit StrEATlife – the food and craft beer festival that will include a variety of street food vendors as well as being able to enjoy live music and DJs throughout the afternoon and evening. Some of the vendors who are set to satisfy visitors hunger include The Waffle Float, Backstreet Diner, Pin up Brewery, Mother Clucker, Smokoloko and Ladle.
