PREVIEW: Gershwin Reimagined, Royal Festival Hall

The Royal Festival Hall will present an evening filled with classic  Gershwin songs performed by Shaun Escoffery and Laura Mvula.

Taking place on the 10th February, this one off concert will see Olivier Award-nominated Shaun Escoffery (currently playing Mufasa in West End musical The Lion King), Mercury award-nominated Laura Mvula and the Philharmonia Orchestra performing a number of Gershwin classics.

Songs such as ‘Embraceable You’, ‘Summertime’ and ‘I Got Rhythm’ have been arranged by Troy Miller, offering a new take on on these popular and well loved songs.

Troy Miller’s reimagining of Gershwin’s songs have been presented by London Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra. Meanwhile, he has toured with artists including Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan, Roy Ayers, Laura Mvula and Gregory Porter, and has produced music for Ayers, Mvula, and Porter.

The programme for the evening is set to include renditions of ‘Fascinating Rhythm’; ‘I Got Rhythm’; ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’; ‘A Foggy Day in London Town’; ‘Embraceable You’; ‘Summertime’; ‘But not for me’; ‘Catfish Row’ and ‘Lullaby for strings’.

Gershwin Reimagined will be performed at the Royal Festival Hall on  the 10th February.
