Rehearsal images have been released for Michael Longhurst’s upcoming production.
Playing at the Kiln Theatre from the 20th February, the UK premiere of Florian Zeller’s The Son is directed by Michael Longhurst with an adaption by Christopher Hampton.
The Son is the fourth UK premiere at the theatre in its opening season following its refurbishment, following on from Alexis Zegerman’s Holy Sh!t, Stephen Sharkey’s adaptation of Zadie Smith’s White Teeth and Ishy Din’s Approaching Empty. Nicolas, just two years ago a smiling boy, is going through a difficult phase after his parents’ divorce. He’s listless, skipping classes, lying. He believes moving in with his father and his new family may help. And a different school, a fresh start. When he doesn’t feel comfortable there, he decides that going back to his mother’s may be the answer. But at some point, options are going to dry up. And then what?
Cast for Michael Longhurst’s production is set to include: Amanda Abbington, Laurie Kynaston, John Light, Oseloka Obi, Amaka Okafor and Martin Turner.
Meanwhile, the creative team for the production includes designs by Lizzie Clachan, lighting by Lee Curran and sound design by Isobel Waller-Bridge.
