Sonia Friedman productions has released the first image for the new adaptation of Rosmersholm, playing at the Duke of York’s Theatre from the 24th April.

The new photograph shot underwater is the first glimpse of Hayley Atwell and Tom Burke as Rebecca West and John Rosmer respectively in Duncan Macmillan’s new adaptation, set to be directed by Ian Rickson.

An election looming. A country on the brink. A rabid press baying for blood. At the centre of the storm is Rosmersholm, the grand house of an influential dynasty. This is where the future will be decided by John Rosmer – a man torn between the idealised hope of the future and the ghosts of his past.

As well as Tom Burke (Strike, The Musketeers) and Hayley Atwell (Howards End, Captain America), the cast is also set to include Giles Terera (Hamilton, West End) as Andreas Kroll, Lucy Briers (Wolf Hall, West End/Broadway) as Mrs Helseth, Jake Fairbrother (Lady from the Sea, Donmar Warehouse) as Peter Mortensgaard and Peter Wight (The Birthday Party, West End) as Ulrik Brendel.

The creative team for the production includes set and costume design by Rae Smith, lighting design by Neil Austin, music by Stephen Warbeck and sound by Gregory Clarke.

Rosmersholm will play at the Duke of York’s Theatre from the 24th April until the 20th July. To book tickets click here or visit: Encore Tickets, ATG Tickets, Love Theatre.com, From the Box Office, Theatre Tickets Direct.co.uk, See Tickets or Last Minute.com.
