NEWS: The Worst Witch to Play in the West End

The production will play at the Vaudeville Theatre from the 24th July until the 8th August.

Based on Jill Murphy’s beloved books following the adventures of Mildred Hubble, The Worst Witch will play at the Vaudeville Theatre for seven weeks only from the 24th July.

Adapted for the stage by Emma Reeves (who won a Royal Television Society Award for Best Children’s TV Programme and 2017 British Screenwriters Award for Best Children’s Programme for the televised version of The Worst Witch), the production embarked on a UK tour last November directed by Theresa Heskins (2017 UK Theatre Award for Best Show for Children and Young People).

Mildred Hubble was an ordinary girl who found herself in an extraordinary place: a school for witches. Now in her final year, accident prone Mildred and her fellow pupils are about to embark on their biggest and most important adventure yet…

Jealous Ethel Hallow is always out to spoil Mildred’s fun. Miss Hardbroom is opposed to all fun in general. And just as Mildred sparks some inevitable mayhem certain to upset them both, an old enemy returns with a plan for revenge that could threaten not just the Academy, but the whole world.

The creative team for the production includes designs by Simon Daw, with music by Luke Potter. Lighting design is by Aideen Malone, whose credits include A Monster Calls (London Old Vic/Bristol Old Vic) and Peter Pan (National Theatre), and sound design is by Leigh Davies whose recent work includes Spring Awakening (Hope Mill Theatre, Manchester) and King Lear(Old Vic). Aerial direction is by Vicki Amedume, choreography by Beverley Norris-Edmunds, and illusions by John Bulleid.

The Worst Witch will play at the Vaudeville Theatre from the 24th July until the 8th September. To book tickets click here or visit: From the Box Office, Encore Tickets, See Tickets, Last Minute.com, Love Theatre.com and Theatre Tickets Direct.co.uk .
