PREVIEW: We Love Cheese Festival, Battersea Power Station

The free to attend festival will return to London at the Battersea Power Station on the 11th and 12th May.

We Love Cheese is back for a third year in May and partners with Vagabond’s Urban Winery for the very first time to bring together a diverse range of cheeses.

The festival will feature Raclette Brothers’ Alpine dishes, Mac To The Future’ signature mac’n’cheese and The Toasty Badger’s oozy toasties as well as cheese board accompaniments with charcuterie, fresh breads, olives, sauces and speciality produce.

Meanwhile the festival will also see the country’s best cheese producers and importers such as Capo Caccia, Une Normande à Londres, Alsop & Walker, L’Ubriaco and Bath Soft Cheese battling it out to win the coveted We Love Cheese Cup voted by guests on both days.

This year’s festival will also see the introduction of the wine fair led by resident urban winery and kitchen, Vagabond. The weekend’s wine sessions will be run from Vagabond’s award-winning Urban Winery, based in the heart of Battersea Power Station.

The wine festival will offer opportunities to meet Vagabond’s resident winemaker, Gavin Monery and special guests, as well as insider tasting tips in their masterclass sessions and wine-focused talks. The bar will also be open on the riverside all weekend to pair with your cheese choices.

Across the weekend visitors can head to the ‘Battersea Bites’ tent for a curated programme of talks and masterclasses including matching cheeses with wines or beers. There will also be music and entertainment for kids and adults alike, such as live performances, a craft area for little ones and the return of the Wheel of Cheese to be in with a chance of winning special prizes.

The festival is at the Battersea Power Station for the first time and will take place at Circus West Village, the new riverside quarter bustling with exciting new restaurants, cafes and bars at the foot of the iconic building.

Kate McKenzie, Director of KMC Squared/ Eat Me Drink Me, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be bringing our much-loved event, We Love Cheese to the foot of such an iconic London landmark. Following two hugely successful events in 2018, We Love Cheese at Battersea Power Station will be the biggest and best to date, spanning across the whole weekend, and accommodating more visitors.  We are particularly excited to be working with Vagabond to give the event a greater emphasis on wine.”

We Love Cheese is free to attend on Saturday 11 May (12pm – 6pm) and Sunday 12 May (11am-5pm) at Battersea Power Station. Voting cards for the We Love Cheese Cup are £8 in advance or £12 on the day and include tasters of all the cheeses in the competition and one complimentary drink.
