The production will play at the Soho Theatre from the 18th July.

It has been announced that Andy Mientus, Declan Bennett, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Cedric Neal and John Partridge will star in the European premiere of The View Upstairs when it plays at the Soho Theatre from the 18th July.

They will be joined on stage by  Carly Mercedes Dyer (Dreamgirls, Hadestown) , Derek Hagen (20th Century Boy, The Twilight Zone, Carousel), Garry Lee (Ghost, Flashdance) and Joseph Prouse (Hadestown Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Jersey Boys).

Millennial fashion designer Wes has just purchased an abandoned building, but little does he know that this forgotten gem was the UpStairs Lounge, a vibrant ‘70s gay bar in the French Quarter of New Orleans, starting an exhilarating journey of seduction and self-exploration in the summertime hear with the rush of lust, sex and incense mixed in the air.

Written by Max vernon, this production is set to be directed by Jonathan O’Boyle (Pippin, Hair, Aspects of Love). The production will also feature choreography by Fabian Aloise (The Rink, Our House, Working, Evita), set and costume design by Lee Newby, sound design by Adam Fisher and lighting design by Nic Farman.

The production marks the UK stage debut of Broadway’s Andy Mientus, who is best known for starring as Marius in the American production of Les Miserables. His other credits also includes his role as recurring character Kyle Bishop in Smash alongside Debra Messing and Katharine McPhee.

Cedric Neal’s stage credits include roles in Motown the Musical at the Shaftesbury Theatre and starring in the 2012 Broadway production of Porgy and Bess opposite Audra McDonald.

Declan Bennett is best known for portraying Charlie Cotton on EastEnders from 2014 to 2017. He began his career in the boyband Point Break before crossing over into musical theatre. His most notable stage credits include American Idiot on Broadway, Once at the Phoenix Theatre, Jesus Christ Superstar at the Open Air Theatre, Rent on Broadway, Fatherland at the Lyric Hammersmith and Kiss of the Spider Woman at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

While John Partridge is best known for his role in Eastenders, his numerous stage credits include roles in  A Chorus Line , The Fix, Cats, Chicago and Miss Saigon.

Victoria Hamilton-Barritt has played a wide variety of roles in numerous musicals including  Kate in The Wild Party at The Other Palace, Narrator in Murder Ballad at the Arts Theatre, Joan in the RSC’s Miss Littlewood, Daniella in The Heights at the Southwark Playhouse, Gypsy Rose Lee/Louise in Gypsy at The Curve, Alex Owens in Flashdance at the Shaftesbury Theatre, and Diane Morales in A Chorus Line at the London Palladium. 

The View Upstairs will play at the Soho Theatre from the 18th July until the 24th August.
