Full casting has been confirmed for Nic Connaughton’s production, playing at the Pleasance Theatre from the 4th June.
It has been confirmed that joining the cast of the European premiere of Kill Climate Deniers will be Home and Away’s Kelly Paterniti as Bekken, the critically acclaimed stand-up Bec Hill as Catch, Coronation Street’s
Hannah Ellis Ryan with Nathan Coenen as Finig. They join the previously announced Felicity Ward who will make her UK theatre debut as Environment Minister Gwen Malkin.
Environment Minister Gwen Malkin’s plan to stop climate change is rudely interrupted when a group of eco-terrorists storm Australia’s Parliament House during a Fleetwood Mac concert. Blending fact and fiction, David Finnigan’s bold new satire is a manic spin on a world on the brink of turmoil.
Directed by Nic Connaughton, David Finnigan’s new play questions what it would actually take to stop climate change from happening?
Talking about the production Nic Connaughton said: “With climate protests taking over the streets, schools, and even British Parliament, it feels right to be presenting the European premiere of David Finnigan’s brave, bold and darkly satiric play now. Whilst set within the specifics of the Australian climate change debate, it chillingly foreshadows where the public discourse in the UK could be headed. We have brought together an incredible cast of actors to bring out both the hilarity and the pathos of this startling and original new play, which is both a lesson and a warning.”
Produced by Maya Ellis and Jonny Patton, the production is set to feature designs by Prinx Lydia, lighting design by Geoff Hence and sound design by Kirsty Gillmore.
Kill Climate Deniers will play at the Pleasance Theatre from the 4th to the 28th June.
