Dolly Parton’s musical is now booking at the Savoy Theatre until 2020.
Initially booking until August, the West End musical has announced it will be extending its run at the Savoy Theatre by releasing 300,000 more tickets meaning that it is booking until 2020.
The London production currently stars Louise Redknapp as Violet Newstead, Amber Davies as Judy Bernly, Natalie McQueen as Doralee Rhodes, Bonnie Langford as Roz Keith and Brian Conley as Franklin Hart.
9 to 5 the Musical tells the story of Doralee, Violet and Judy – three workmates pushed to boiling point by their sexist and egotistical boss. Concocting a plan to kidnap and turn the tables on their despicable supervisor, will the girls manage to reform their office – or will events unravel when the CEO pays an unexpected visit?
Directed by Jeff Calhoun, the musical is based on the 1980’s film and features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton. The musical also features a book by Patricia Resnick, based on the screenplay by Resnick and Colin Higgins.
Meanwhile, the creative team for the production includes: choreography by Lisa Stevens, set and costume design by Tom Rogers, lighting design by Howard Hudson and musical direction by Andrew Hilton.
9 to 5 the Musical originally premiered in Los Angeles ten years ago before opening on Broadway in 2009, where it received 15 Drama Desk Award nominations and four Tony Award nominations. It premiered in the UK in 2012, embarking on a UK tour which included Jackie Clune, Amy Lennox, Ben Richards and Bonnie Langford in its cast. A second UK tour of the musical is set to open at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham on the 6th September.
