More2Screen has announced that Emma Rice’s acclaimed production will be screened in 250 cinemas across the UK and Irelend on the 3rd October.
Directed and adapted for the stage by Emma Rice, the production was the first show to be produced by her company Wise Children.
The production was filmed live at for the cinema screen at York Theatre Royal in March and is Emma Rice’s unique interpretation of Angela Carter’s last novel transformed into a play.
In Brixton, Nora and Dora Chance – twin chorus girls born and bred south of the river – are celebrating their 75th birthday. Over the river in Chelsea, their father and greatest actor of his generation Melchior Hazard turns 100 on the same day. As does his twin brother Peregrine. If, in fact, he’s still alive. And if, in truth, Melchior is their real father after all…
The cast who will appear in the cinema screenings include: Sam Archer (Young Peregrine), Ankur Bahl (Young Melchior), Stu Barker (The Band), Omari Douglas (Showgirl Nora), Mirabelle Gremaud (Young Nora), Alex Heane (TheBand), Paul Hunter (Melchior Hazard), Melissa James (Showgirl Dora), Bettrys Jones (Young Dora), Patrycja Kujawska (Lady Atalanta/Wheelchair), Etta Murfitt(Nora Chance), Katy Owen (Grandma Chance), Ian Ross (Band Leader), Gareth Snook (Dora Chance)and Mike Shepherd (Peregrine Hazard).
