Angelina Jolie is set to reprise her role as Maleficent in this sequel to the 2014 film.
Picking up several years later after the original film left off, this first teaser trailer for its sequel is set to explore in further detail the complex relationship between Maleficent and the now future Queen Aurora as they face new adversaries in attempt to protect the moors.
Set to be released on the 18th October this year, this sequel is directed by Joachim Ronning and features a screen play written by Linda Woolverston Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.
As well as Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, the film will also see Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Staunton, Juno Temple and Lesley Manville all reprising their roles in the film.
Meanwhile, new cast members to be involved with this sequel include: Michelle Pfieffer as Queen Ingrith, Robert Lindsay as King John, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Harris Dickinson.
The film also features cinematography by Henry Braham and is produced by Joe Roth, Angelina Jolie and Duncan Henderson.
Both the 2014 film and this upcoming sequel is based on Disney’s classic animated film Sleeping Beauty and La Belle au Bois Dormant by Charles Perrault.
Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil will be released in cinemas on the 18th October.
