NEWS: Brendan Cole and Bobby Davro to Star in Aladdin at New Victoria Theatre

Casting has been announced for the New Victoria Theatre’s 2019 pantomime.

Playing at the theatre from the 6th December, casting has been announced for the New Victoria Theatre’s 2019 pantomime.

The production is set to star former Strictly Come Dancing professional Brendan Cole, comedian Bobby Davro, CBBC star Mischa Eckersley, panto dame David Phipps Davis and veteran ventriloquist Dawson Chance.

Produced once again by Qdos Entertainment, pantomime producer and the team behind the annual New Victoria Theatre pantomime, Managing Director Michael Harrison said: “We’re delighted to have assembled such a talented cast for this year’s pantomime, following last year’s hugely successful production of Cinderella. This year’s show promises spectacular dance, hilarious comedy, plenty of music and a lamp-load of audience participation.”

As well as being a Strictly Come Dancing professional, Brendan Cole has produced and starred in numerous UK tours including Live & Unjudged, Licence to Thrill and A Night to Remember.

Bobby Davro is well-known for his television career which has seen him present his own series Bobby Davro on the Box, Bobby’s Sketch Pad, TV Weekly, Public Enemy Number One, Rock With Laughter and Run the Risk, and host 65 episodes of Winner Takes All. He has also appeared in EastEnders playing the loveable rogue Vinnie Monks, donned skates on Dancing on Ice, and came fourth in Celebrity Big Brother for Channel 5.

CBBC star Mischa Eckersley joins the cast as Princess Jasmine. Having trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School the singer, dancer and actress rose to fame as Polly in 4 O’Clock Club, where she has been a series regular since 2017.

David Phipps-Davis will star as Widow Twankey, having forged a highly successful stage career in opera, including leading roles in Turandot, Tosca and La traviata, and appearing in musical theatre in Oliver!, playing six roles in The Phantom of the Opera for Andrew Lloyd Webber at His Majesty’s Theatre and has also appeared in numerous pantomimes.

Marking his 47th year in pantomime, ventriloquist and pantomime stalwart Dawson Chance and his friends will help keep the streets of Peking safe as the Chief of Police. The ventriloquist, comedian and actor has enjoyed a long and varied career, including appearing for the Royal Family by command at three Royal Variety Performances.

Aladdin will play at the New Victoria Theatre from the 6th December until the 5th January 2020.
