The production will play at the theatre from the 15th August.
Casting for the world premiere production of Eugene O’Hare’s dark drama The Weatherman has been announced. Directed by Alice Hamilton, the production is set to star Mark Hadfield, Niamh James, Alec Newman, Cyril Nri and David Schaal.
Beezer and O’Rourke live on the fringes of society in a dingy London flat, struggling to make ends meet. Despite living life at the bottom of the heap, the savage banter of their dysfunctional friendship keeps the pair afloat.
When their dodgy landlord, Dollar, makes them a ‘business’ proposition, O’Rourke finds himself selling out for the cost of a few months’ rent. The price? Take care of a mystery special package. Just for a few months. Easy job. Easy money.
Mark Hadfield plays Beezer. His theatre credits include: Tamburlaine (Swan Theatre), Road (Royal Court), The Libertine (Bath/ Theatre Royal Haymarket), Richard III (Almeida), The Painkiller (Garrick Theatre), Made in Dagenham (Adelphi Theatre), Jeeves and Wooster: Perfect Nonsense (Duke of York’s Theatre), Singing in the Rain (Palace Theatre) and Uncle Vanya(Vaudeville Theatre).
Niamh James (Mara) will make her professional debut at Park Theatre, having trained at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Her credits whilst training include: Lost Empires and A Permanent State of Emergency.
Alec Newman plays O’Rourke. Screen credits include: Strike Back, Call The Midwife, Outlander, Him and The Last Kingdom . His stage credits include: Uncle Vanya (Hampstead Theatre), The Motherf**ker With The Hat (National Theatre), Alligators (Hampstead Downstairs), King Lear (Donmar Warehouse), Danton’s Death (National Theatre) and These Shining Lives (Park Theatre).
Cyril Nri plays Turkey. Stage credits include The Barbershop Chronicles (National Theatre), Hamlet (RSC), Our Country’s Good (National Theatre), The Absence of War (Headlong Theatre), Julius Caesar (RSC/West End), The Observer (National Theatre) and Oxford St (Royal Court).
David Schaal plays Dollar. Screen credits include: The Inbetweeners (Bwark Productions), Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists! (Aardman), The Inbetweeners Movie (Bwark Productions), The Office (BBC Television), Victoria (Netflix), Frontier (Netflix), The Midnight Beast (E4), Mr. Nobody (Pathe), Ashes To Ashes (Kudos), The IT Crowd (Talkback), Hustle(BBC Television)and Kidulthood (Stealth Films).
As well as being directed by Alice Hamilton (Paradise and Every Day I Make Greatness Happen, The March on Russia and German Skerries (Orange Tree), While We’re Here and Visitors), the creative team for the production includes: designs by James Perkins, lighting design by Tina McHugh and sound design by Giles Thomas.
The Weatherman will play at the Park Theatre from the 15th August until the 14th September.
