Final casting has been announced for the Turbine Theatre’s inaugural production, running from the 22nd August.

Joining the previously announced Matthew Needham (Arnold), Daisy Boulton (Laurel), Dino Fetscher (Ed)  and Rish Shah (Alan) it has been announced that Jay Lycurgo (David) and Bernice Stegers (Ma) are joining the cast in this production of Harvey Fierstein’s award winning play.

This new revival of the Tony Award winning play is set to be directed by Olivier Award winning Drew McOnie (King Kong, Strictly Ballroom, On The Town) at the recently launched Turbine Theatre from the 22nd August.

Matthew Needham starred in the critically acclaimed revival of Tennessee Williams’ Summer and Smoke. The production, originally produced by the Almeida Theatre, transferred to the Duke of York’s Theatre, West End in November 2018. His other stage credits includes: The Treatment at the Almeida Theatre, Much Ado About NothingImogenComedy of ErrorsTitus Andronicusand The Burning Pestle all at Shakespeare’s Globe, and Henry IV Parts 1 & 2Love’s SacrificeThe Jew of Malta and Candide all for the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Daisy Boulton’s theatre credits include roles in Trouble In Mind at The Print Room, Present Laughter at the Theatre Royal Bath, Shakespeare in Love at the Noël Coward Theatre, A View From The Bridge on UK Tour, The White Carnation at Finborough Theatre and Measure For Measure at the Almeida Theatre.

Dino Fetscher’s stage credits include As Is at Trafalgar Studios and Ghost Stories at the Arts Theatre. His screen credits include Russell T Davies’ critically acclaimed show Years and Years for the BBC, Gentleman Jack for the BBC, Humans for Channel 4, Paranoid for Netflix/ITV, Banana for E4, Now You See Me 2 and Samuel’s Getting Hitched.

Jay Lycurgo will be making his stage debut in Torch Song at The Turbine Theatre. His screen credits include Father of the Bride for BFI Network and Doctors for BBC.

Rish Shah  will also be making his stage debut in Torch Song at The Turbine Theatre. Rish’s screen credits include Prank MeDoctorsYears and Years for the BBC and India Sweets and Spices.

Bernice Stegers’ stage credits include Lost In Yonkers at Watford Palace, Lady Windermere’s Fan at the Royal Exchange, Eight Women at Southwark Playhouse, Sit and Shiver at Hackney Empire, The Private Room at New End Theatre, Trip’s Cinch at Southwark Playhouse and The Idiot at Riverside Studios.

The groundbreaking and Tony Award winning story of drag queen Arnold Beckoff and his quest for true love in 1970s Manhattan is a hilarious and heartbreaking portrait of love, loss, sexual identity and the deep longing for family approval that drives us all forward, and drives us all crazy.

As well as being directed by Drew McOnie, the production’s creative team includes: design by Ryan Laight, lighting by James Whiteside, sound by Seb Frost, with casting by Will Burton.

Torch Song will play at the Turbine Theatre from the 22nd August until the 13th October.
