NEWS: Full Casting Announced for Sydney & The Old Girl at the Park Theatre

The world premiere production will play at the Park Theatre from the 31st October.

Joining the previously announced Miriam Margolyes as Nell Stock and Mark Hadfield as Sydney Stock, the cast for the world premiere production of Eugene O’Hare’s black comedy is also set to star Vivien Parry who joins the cast to play Marion Fee.

Nell and Sydney Stock are at war – and it’s mutually assured destruction. After 50 years cooped up in the same shabby East London house where ghosts of a hard life still linger, the points scored in never ending arguments continue to bind the pair together. And then, there is the not so simple matter of the inheritance…

As the twisted game between mother and son reaches breaking point, Irish care worker Marion Fee finds herself an unwitting pawn, played from both sides. Nell will stop at nothing for her bitter triumph over Sydney – but he has his own plans on how to end this once and for all.

Eugene O’Hare’s new play examines one family’s obsession with the past as well as insecurity about living in a city that doesn’t feel like home. This is his second play, following on from The Weatherman which also played at the Park Theatre.

Miriam Margoyles also returns to the Park Theatre following her performance in Madame Rubinstein in 2017. Her numerous other credits include Yentl, Little Shop of Horrors, I Love You To Death, End of Days and Sunshine.

Mark Hadfield’s theatre credits include:The Weatherman (Park Theatre), Tamburlaine (Swan Theatre), Road (Royal Court), The Libertine (Bath/ Theatre Royal Haymarket), Richard III (Almeida), The Painkiller (Garrick Theatre) and  Made in Dagenham (Adelphi Theatre).

The production is directed by Phillip Breen, with designs by Max Jones and Ruth Hall.
