The new musical based on the classic Robin Williams film will begin performances at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on the 9th March 2020.
It has been confirmed that the new musical will be heading to Broadway next year, following its world premiere at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre from the 26th November until the 29th December.
Featuring a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O’Farrell, Mrs Doubtfire the musical will include music and lyrics by Karey Fitzpatrick and Wayne Kirkpatrick – the Tony nominated team behind Something Rotten! Meanwhile, the production is set to be directed by Tony award winner Jerry Zaks (Hello Dolly) with choreography by Lorin Lataro.
Principle casting for the production has also been announced, with Rob McClure taking on the title role made famous by Robin Williams in the film. He will be joined by Jenn Gambatese as Miranda Hillard, Brad Oscar as Frank Hillard, Analise Scarpaci as Lydia Hillard, Jake Ryan Flynn as Christopher Hillard, Avery Sell as Natalie Hillard, J. Harrison Ghee as Andre, Mark Evans as Stuart Dunmeyer, Charity Angél Dawson as Wanda Sellner and Peter Bartlett as Mr. Jolly. Further casting will be announced soon.
The creative team for the production will also feature set design by David Korins, costume design by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Philip Rosenberg, sound by Brian Ronan and hair and wig design by David Brian Brown.
Mrs Doubtfire follows the story of Daniel Hillard who is determined to stay close to his children following his divorce by disguising himself under the new persona of Mrs Doubtfire.
Tickets for Mrs Doubtfire will go on sale to the public on the 1st November at 10am.
