NEWS: UK Jewish Film Festival to Screen Fiddler on the Roof

The 2019 UK Jewish Film Festival will screen the classic 1971 film musical as part of its programme.

Running from the 6th to the 21st November, the 2019 UK Jewish Film Festival will have special screenings of the 1971 film adaptation of the musical Fiddler on the Roof.

The film, starring Chaim Topol, Norma Crane, Leonard Frey, Molly Picon and Paul Mann, sees a father struggling to uphold his Jewish cultural traditions with his five daughters – all of whom have very different ideas of how their life could be. It includes iconic songs such as ‘If I Were a Rich Man’ and ‘Sunrise, Sunset’.

On the 14th November, the Rio Cinema based on Kingsland High Street in Dalston, will be screening the film as part of the 2019 UK Jewish Film Festival .

Meanwhile, it has also been announced that the film festival will also screening the documentary Fiddler: A Miracle of Miracles which explores the phenomenon of the musical and why it continues to have universal success. The screenings for this documentary take place on the 17th November at Manchester’s HOME and on the 21st November at London’s Everyman in Muswell Hill.
