The musical will officially reopen the Theatre Royal Drury Lane next year.
It has been announced that Samantha Barks, best known for her roles in Pretty Woman the musical and Les Miserables, will be playing the role of Elsa in the upcoming London production based on the popular Disney film.
Michael Grandage’s production is set to open at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in October 2020, with tickets going on general sale on the 6th March and previews starting in October 2020.
The highest grossing animated film of all time, Frozen was released in cinemas in 2013, winning multiple awards, including two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Let It Go”), the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film and the BAFTA for Best Animated Film. It was written and directed (with Chris Buck) by Jennifer Lee, with music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. It follows the story of Elsa and Anna who try to get to the bottom of Elsa’s magical powers.
The musical features music and lyrics by Kirsten Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, a book by Jennifer Lee, choreography by Rob Ashford, set and costume design by Christopher Oram, lighting design by Neil Austin and sound design by Peter Hylenski.
