With a huge variety of shows having already been announced for this year, here Love London Love Culture selects some of the best ones for the year ahead….

Pretty Woman the Musical, Piccadilly Theatre: in February, London will be welcoming this Broadway musical based on the classic 1990’s film. Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, the musical also features a score by Bryan Adams. It was recently announced that Danny Mac will be playing the role of Edward and Aimie Atkinson the role of Vivienne in this London production.
Frozen the Musical, Theatre Royal Drury Lane: officially reopening the newly renovated theatre in October, this major Disney musical based on the hit film will see Samantha Barks playing the role of Elsa with further casting yet to be announced. Tickets will go on general sale on the 6th March.
The Prince of Egypt, Dominion Theatre: featuring an all-star cast, this musical features a score by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked) and is set to include the Academy Award winning song ‘When You Believe’.
Life of Pi, Wyndham’s Theatre: following a successful run at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre, Max Webster’s production will be heading to the Wyndham’s Theatre this year. Yann Martel’s Man Booker Prize-winning novel was adapted for the stage by Lolita Chakrabarti and will see the theatre being reconfigured especially for the production.
Hello Dolly! Adelphi Theatre: Imelda Staunton is set to return to the West End stage this Summer to reunite with director Dominic Cooke (who she worked with on the NT production of Follies) to star as Dolly Levi in a revival of this classic musical. It will play for a limited season at the Adelphi Theatre from August.
Sunday in the Park with George, Savoy Theatre: meanwhile across the road at the Savoy Theatre this Summer, Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford are set to reprise their roles in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Pulitzer Prize-winning musical. The show focuses on painter Georges Seurat (Jake Gyllenhaal) in the months leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte.
