It has been confirmed that the musical based on P.L Travers original stories about the nanny is extending its run in the West End and is now booking until the 26th July.

The magical story of the world’s favourite Nanny arriving on Cherry Tree Lane has been triumphantly and spectacularly brought to the stage with dazzling choreography, incredible effects and unforgettable songs. The stage version of Mary Poppins, brilliantly adapted from the wonderful stories by PL Travers and the original beloved Walt Disney film, continues to be a smash hit around the world since its opening in London 15 years ago.

The musical features original music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, including the songs  Jolly Holiday, Step in Time, Feed the Birds andSupercalifragilisticexpialidocious as well as new songs by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

Meanwhile, the cast for the production includes Zizi Strallen as Mary Poppins, Charlie Stemp as Bert,Joseph Millson as George Banks and Petula Clark as the Bird Woman. Richard Eyre’s production also includes Amy Griffiths asWinifred Banks, Claire Moore as Miss Andrew, Claire Machin as Mrs Brill, Jack North as Robertson Ay and Barry James as Bank Chairman and Admiral Boom. 

Mary Poppins features a book by Academy Award-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellowes, orchestrations by William David Brohn and dance and vocal arrangements by George Stiles. The production is co-directed and choreographed by Matthew Bourne, co-choreographed by Stephen Mear, with sound design by Paul Gatehouse, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone and Natasha Katz and scenic and costume design by Bob Crowley.
