The musical will return to London for a limited season at the London Coliseum from the 23rd April.

Further casting has been announced for the upcoming return of Hairspray the Musical. Joining the previously announced Michael Ball (Enda Turnblad), Lizzie Bea (Tracy Turnblad), Marisha Wallace (Motormouth) will be comedian Paul Merton making his West End musical theatre debut as Wilbur Turnblad, Rita Simons as Velma Von Tussle and Jonny Amies as Link Larkin.

The full company for the production includes: Georgia Anderson, Kimani Arthur, Dermot Canavan, Lori Haley Fox, Mari McGinlay, Ashley Samuels, Michael Vinsen and Imogen Bailey, Pearce Barron, Jordan Benjamin, Nicholas Collier, Joel Cooper, Luke George, Christopher Gopaul, Winny Herbert, Chris Howell, Lily Laight, Hannah Grace Lawson, Madeleine Lawton, Holly Liburd, Will Luckett, Mireia Mambo, Kody Mortimer, Robyn Rose, Tinovimbanashe Sibanda, Kibong Tanji, Amy West and Natalie Woods.

Baltimore, 1962. Tracy Turnblad is a big girl with big hair and big dreams. Can she make it on the local TV dance show, win the heart of teen heartthrob Link Larkin and bring everyone together – whatever their colour, size or hairdo? Well if you want a change, you’ve really got to shake things up!

Hairspray features music and lyrics by  Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman as well as a book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan and includes the songs “Good Morning, Baltimore”, “Big, Blonde and Beautiful” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat”.

This revival of the musical is directed by Jack O’Brien and features choreography by Jerry Mitchell. The creative team for the production also includes costume design by William Ivey Long and set design by David Rockwell.
