Love London Love Culture’s Guide to Film Releases: 14th April

With everywhere on lockdown at the moment, here’s a guide to some upcoming films new release dates (as it stands at the moment and could be subject to change)

Top Gun: Maverick: 23rd December – originally set for release over the Summer, it has been confirmed that this eagerly anticipated sequel will now head to cinemas in December. As well as Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer reprising their roles, the film also stars Ed Harris and Jennifer Connelly.

The Secret Garden: 14th August – this new adaptation based on Frances Hodgson Burnett’s beloved story will now be heading to cinema screens in August. The story follows an orphaned girl who discovers a secret garden when she goes to live at her uncle’s estate. The cast for the film is led by Dixie Egerickx as Mary, Colin Firth as Archibold Craven and Julie Walters as Mrs Medlock.

Blithe Spirit: 4th September – this big screen adaptation based on Noel Coward’s classic comedy features an all star cast including Judi Dench as Madame Arcati, Dan Stevens as Charles Condomine and Isla Fisher as Ruth Condomine. The plot concerns novelist Charles Condomine who is in desperate need of inspiration and so invites medium Madame Arcati to his home for a séance. Unfortunately it doesn’t go according to plan…

Our Ladies: 11th September- those who went to see Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour at the Duke of York’s Theatre back in 2017, will be delighted with the news that the story based on the 1998 novel The Sopranos by Alan Warner is heading to the big screen later this year. For those not familiar with the plot, it follows a group of Catholic school girls get an opportunity to go into Edinburgh for a choir competition, but are more interested in drinking, partying and hooking up than winning the competition.

No Time to Die: 12th November – as one of the first films to move its release date due to the ongoing coronavirus epidemic, this final outing for Daniel Craig as James Bond will be even more highly anticipated. The film begins with James Bond out of active service only to be asked to come back to help  Felix Leiter, his friend and a CIA officer, who enlists his help in the search for Valdo Obruchev, a missing scientist.
