It has been announced that the 1999 production of Cats will be the next musical to be streamed as part of The Shows Must Go On.

The musical,based on T.S. Eliot’s 1039 book of poetry Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, is set to be streamed through The Shows Must Go On Youtube Channel on Friday 15th May. It will then be available to watch for 24 hours in the UK and 48 hours elsewhere.

Featuring memorable songs including ‘Bustopher Jones’, ‘The Rum Tum Tugger’, ‘Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer’ and of course ‘Memory’, this 1999 filmed production stars Elaine Paige and Sir John Mills.

As well as having originally run in London for 21 years, Cats was also recently made into a film featuring an all-star cast including Judi Dench, Taylor Swift, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Ian McKellen and Jennifer Hudson, directed by Tom Hooper.

This is the latest production to stream in the ongoing The Shows Must Go On series. It follows on from streamings of productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar, The Phantom of the Opera and Love Never Dies.

Cats will be available to watch via The Shows Must Go On Youtube channel on Friday 15th May for 24 hours in the UK.
