NEWS: Hamilton Film Heading to Disney + This Year

Lin Manuel-Miranda has confirmed that the film’s release has been moved up by a year to be released on the 3rd July.

It has been announced that the filmed version of Hamilton will be heading to Disney + on the 3rd July, featuring the original Broadway cast.

Having been filmed live on stage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2016, the cast is set to include: Manuel Miranda as Alexander Hamilton; Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson; Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler; Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr; Tony Award nominees Christopher Jackson as George Washington; Jonathan Groff as King George; Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton; and Jasmine Cephas Jones as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds; Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison; and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.

Having originally meant to be released in cinemas next year, the Tony and Olivier Award winning musical follows the story of how the USA came to be and one of its founding fathers – Alexander Hamilton. It includes songs such as ‘My Shot’, ‘Satisfied’ and ‘The Room Where it Happens’.

Directed by Thomas Kail, Hamilton features a book, music and lyrics by Lin- Manuel Miranda. The creative team also includes choreography by  Andy Blankenbuehler, musical supervision and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg and hair and wig design by Charles G Lapointe.

Hamilton will head to Disney + on the 3rd July.
