The current Covid-19 pandemic has caused a number of productions to cancel its London runs for this year – but a few of them have announced new dates or extensions into next year. Here is LLLC’s guide to some of those announced so far…
The Prince of Egypt, Dominion Theatre: this West End musical has announced that it is reopening ticket booking for performances from the 2nd November to the 4th September 2021. Of course, performances will only be able to take place subject to government advice. Hairspray, London Coliseum: this fun filled musical announced last week it is rescheduling its dates at the London Coliseum to run from the 22nd April until the 29th August 2021. Set to star Michael Ball as Edna Turnblad and Paul Merton as Wilbur Turnblad, all those who have already purchased tickets have priority to move their tickets to a new date. All new ticket purchases can be made from 10am on 27th July.
Sister Act! The Musical, Eventim Apollo: having set for a run at London’s Eventim Apollo this Summer, the musical will now head to the venue from the 20th July until the 29th August 2021. The production is set to star Whoopi Goldberg as Deloris Van Cartier and Jennifer Saunders as Mother Superior. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, London Palladium: Jac Yarrow and Jason Donovan are set to reprise their roles in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s popular family musical next summer. The production is set to run at the London Palladium from 1st July 2021 until the 5th September 2021. 101 Dalmations, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre: now rescheduled to form the theatre’s 2021 season (15th May-20th June 2021), this new musical is based on Dodie Smith’s story and is set to be directed by Timothy Sheader with choreography by Liam Steel. Singin’ in the Rain, Sadler’s Wells: the new dates for Jonathan Church’s production of the classic musical, will see the production run at the venue from the 30th July until the 5th September 2021. Tickets are available to buy through the Sadler’s Wells website now.
