Brad Shaw has announced the release of the audiobook of Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland for NHS.
Featuring a total of 159 actors, all of whom read one minute’s worth of the classic story as part of the Wonderland Challenge to raise money for the NHS, the audio book will be released tomorrow (3rd July).
Those who took part in the recording of the story include: Gyles Brandreth, Ruth Jones, Juliet Stevenson, Michael Palin, Harriet Walter, Christopher Biggins, John Challis, Henry Goodman, Angela Griffin, Patricia Hodge, Alex Jennings, Griff Rhys Jones, Phyllis Logan, Kevin McNally, and eight cast members of The Archers.
Originally released five readers at a time over a month period during lockdown, the project is in aid of the NHS Charities Together and has so far raised over £4000, including donations from the readers themselves.
Brad Shaw said “As someone with ‘underlying health conditions’, I’m one of the twelve-week isolators. As a project I asked the pro voice artists community to record a minute of Alice in Wonderland and donate a tenner to the NHS. Within days, I had filled all 159 slots, and they are all wonderful. It’s been a fabulous life-affirming project. A real celebration of the human voice and spirit.”
‘Alice in Wonderland for NHS’ is released for sale this Friday 3 July exclusively from: www.bradshawvoice.com/wonderland. 50% of the sale price goes to NHS Charities Together, 20% + $0.30/copy goes to Awesound, the releasing platform and the remainder will be used for marketing.
