Producers Ginger Quiff Media have teamed up with Broadway Records to release ‘Beautiful City’ as a single.
Performed by Jodie Steele (SIX; Heathers; Wicked), the new single marking the 50th anniversary of Stephen Schwartz’s musical, was released today on all major digital platforms.
By releasing the single, it offers a glimpse of what people can expect from the upcoming online concert experience when the show is streamed later this month.
The 50th anniversary online concert production of Godspell will see an all star cast including Ruthie Henshall (Chicago; Billy Elliot), Darren Day (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat; Priscilla, Queen of the Desert), Sam Tutty (Dear Evan Hansen), Ria Jones (Sunset Boulevard; High Society), Jenna Russell (TheBridges of Madison County; Fun Home) and Jodie Steele performing.
The cast will be completed by Danyl Johnson (The X Factor finalist), Jenny Fitzpatrick (Tina, The Musical; Our House), Natalie Green (The Prince of Egypt; Hair), John Barr (The Story of Bart; Tommy), Sally Ann Triplett (Mamma Mia!; Viva Forever), Matthew Croke (Aladdin), Alison
Jiear (Jerry Springer: The Opera), Shekinah McFarlane (Six; Hair), Lucy Williamson (The Fix; Judy & Liza), Ronald Brian (Beautiful, The Carol King Musical; Newsies), Jerome Bell (The Voice USA; Hairspray) and supported by an ensemble from Italia Conti.
Filmed from the cast’s homes, the concert is directed by award-winning Michael Strassen (Billy; Assassins) and edited together with visual animations. It is aimed at raising money for charities including: Hope Mill Theatre (A Factory of Creativity CIO), Acting For Others, and National AIDS
Trust.
Godspell in Concert will take place from the 27th to the 29th August. Tickets cost £15 and are available to purchase here.
