The musical written in lockdown by Natalia Lewis, Jack Millier
and Elin Miles is to be released as a concept album.

While a release date for the album has yet to be announced, it is set to feature a cast formed of Melanie Bright (Jesus Christ Superstar) as Suzette LaBouche, Lois Morgan (The Pirate Queen) as Polly Barton, Joely Barbour (9 to 5) as Camila Cologne, Amelia Treble as Trixie Talltower, Becca Sharp as Jane Downs and Kody Mortimer as the prison officer and the husband.

This one act musical features music that ranges from country ballads to big brass numbers to tell five stories of murderous, flawed, yet loveable women enduring their life sentences together in a run down, British prison. In their dark, dingy cell, with rowdy neighbours and hidden secrets, the girls of cell 7A open up to their newest inmate.

Written entirely during lockdown, Black Widows was created in response to the sharp increase in domestic abuse cases in the UK caused by the lockdown. The cast are currently in rehearsals ahead of recording the concept album.

Talking about the news, writers Natalia Lewis, Jack Millier
and Elin Miles said: “We are so excited to be rehearsing Black Widows and to be recording the concept album hopefully very soon! We wanted to write something with meaning, and with a message, whilst still making it
commercially viable. We really hope audiences feel as inspired and empowered as we do by the women of cell 7A!’
