Disney Theatricals has announced that the musical will embark on a new UK and Ireland tour next year.

A new stage production of Beauty and the Beast is set to tour across the UK and Ireland next year, opening at the Curve Leicester next May for a reported five week run it has been confirmed.

Based on the Walt Disney film, the musical follows the story of a young prince transformed into a beast who can only be saved by true love. His last chance comes in the form of Belle – the only human girl to visit the castle.

With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton, the musical includes the songs ‘Be Our Guest’ and of course ‘Beauty and the Beast’.

Beauty and the Beast had its UK premiere at the Dominion Theatre in 1997, while the piece’s Broadway run lasted from 1994 to 2007. It also had a UK tour in 2001.

Further tour details have yet to be announced as well as casting.
