REVIEW: Confetti by Little Mix

This sixth album from the girl group is confident and stylish.

Coinciding nicely with the final of their BBC show Little Mix The Search, the release of the group’s sixth studio album captures exactly what they do best but in a way that takes it up a notch – capturing the confidence in the music they are creating.

Songs such as ‘Happiness’ and ‘Gloves Up’ capture the bold and self-assured nature of the album – more than delivering on what fans will have been hoping for since the release of 2018’s LM5. It feels like a change of pace and a new direction has been set and it feels as though they as a group have a bit more freedom to produce the music that they want to make.

But that doesn’t mean that they have lost what makes them so distinctive – their pitch perfect harmonies still have the ability to capture the attention as heard on ‘Sweet Melody’ and ‘Not a Pop Song’. Little Mix’s confidence in the way they mix up styles is also still to be admired, particularly with ‘Holiday’ and ‘Confetti’ having a light but vibrant sound that makes them stand out.

Despite the danceable nature of the album as a whole, I can’t help but feel that perhaps Confetti is just lacking a little bit in soul – with the exception of ‘My Love Won’t Let You Down’ that is certainly a heartfelt addition to the album.

It is certainly a fun and entertaining album to listen that captures Little Mix’s sense of confidence in their own sound. Now what can they deliver next?
