The production is set to play at the venue from the 11th June 2021.
Marking the play’s 60th anniversary, Trevor Nunn is set to direct Lisa Dwan in this new production heading to the Riverside Studios in June 2021.
Winnie and her husband Willie are stuck in every sense of the word. Endless days and nights pass by while they struggle on, with only each other for company.
Winnie takes comfort in the monotony of her existence, passing the time by completing routine tasks, her blithe and buoyant manner allowing her to believe ‘another happy day’ is occurring. But ritual and a sunny disposition can only keep Winnie’s head above the parapet for so long, before the futility of her and Willie’s existence threatens to engulf her completely.
Lisa Dwan is familiar with performing Beckett’s work having performed in productions such as The Beckett Trilogy and No’s Knife. Her other credits include Not I and Beside the Sea.
Further casting and creative team have yet to be announced.
Happy Days will run at the Riverside Studios from the 11th June until the 25th July 2021.
