The musical’s world premiere has been delayed once again, due to the ongoing uncertainty of when theatres will reopen.
The new musical based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name will now have its premiere at the James L. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago from the 19th July until the 21st August 2022.
The story follows Andy, a journalist who takes on a job at a fashion magazine with unexpected results and problems along the way.It was transformed into a film in 2006 starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway.
Directed by Anna D. Shapiro, the musical adaptation is set to star Beth Leavel (The Prom, Something Rotten!) as Miranda Priestley and Taylor Iman Jones (Head Over Heels, Groundhog Day) as Andy. Further casting has yet to be announced.
The Devil Wears Prada is set to feature music by Elton John, lyrics by Shaina Taub,a book by Paul Rudnick and music supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo. It is being produced by Kevin McCollum.
