Elaine Paige made the announcement as part of the BBC’s weekend celebration of musical theatre.

BBC Radio 2 have announced the top 20 musical songs of all time yesterday as part of the BBC’s weekend celebrating musical theatre.

The initial long list of songs was created by a panel including Marisha Wallace, Baz Bamigboye (Daily Mail), Sita McIntosh (WhatsOnStage), and Elaine Paige, which was then reduced down to 20 popular songs.

At the top of the list, Les Miserables claimed the top two spots, with ‘One Day More’ at number one and ‘Bring Him Home’ at number 2.

BBC Radio 2’s celebrations of musical theatre culminated in Musicals: The Greatest Show, a special concert filled with performances from som of the best known West End stars. It will be shown on BBC One on Sunday 7th February at 7.40pm.
