The new musical based on the life and career of Bob Marley moves its opening date until later this year.
Producers of the new musical have taken the decision to postpone the world premiere, moving it from opening at the Lyric Theatre from the 28th May to the 1st October, with tickets now on sale until the 3rd April 2022. Those who have booked tickets will be contacted contacted by the box office or their point of purchase in due course with updated booking details.
Get Up, Stand Up! is written by Lee Hall, directed by Clint Dyer and will star Arinzé Kene as Bob Marley. With unlimited access to Bob Marley’s catalogue, the musical is set to include songs such as ‘Exodus’, ‘No Woman No Cry’, ‘Waiting in Vain’, ‘Three Little Birds’, ‘I Shot the Sheriff’, ‘Could You Be Loved’ and ‘Redemption Song’.

The Bob Marley Musical, bursts into life from June 2021 at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue. From the hills of rural Jamaica, armed only with his overwhelming talent and righteous beliefs, Bob Marley applied himself with resolute determination to achieve international acclaim for his prophetic musical message – a gospel of love and unity.
The creative team for the production has also been announced and is set to include: choreography by Shelley Maxwell, musical supervision by Phil Bateman, set design by Chloe Lamford, lighting design by Charles Balfour, sound design by Tony Gayle, costume design by Lisa Duncan and video design Tal Yarden.
