Love London Love Culture’s Picks of Upcoming Theatre Inspired Releases

While we await for theatres to reopen and welcome audiences back, here’s a guide to some of the upcoming releases to indulge your love of theatre.

Amelie Original London Cast Recording – CD release: can’t get enough of this charming little musical based on the film? Well good news – as well as being able to download a CD is being released on the 2nd April, so you can then relive the joy of the music over and over again!

Ever After: Forty Years of Musical Theater and Beyond, 1977-2019: Forty Years of Musical Theater and Beyond by Barry Singer: looking to immerse yourself in some musical theatre history? Set to be published in May, this new expanded edition (originally released in 2003) goes even further back in time, while expanding it right up until the present day. The book revisits shows that have opened since the last edition including Wicked, The Book of Mormon and Hamilton.  

Cast recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella: while waiting to see the show on stage, why not check out the new cast recording which is set be available from the 30th April. It will include the previously released tracks ‘Bad Cinderella’, ‘I Know I Have a Heart’ and ‘Only You Lonely You’.

50 Women in Theatre by Susan Croft and Cheryl Robson: set to be published on the 27th May, this new book celebrates women who have worked on and off the stage and will include interviews with Denise Gough, Paule Constable and Emma Rice.

Kinky Boots the Musical – DVD release: the hit West End production of the musical, recorded live at the Adelphi Theatre will be heading to DVD and Blu-Ray on the 25th May. Featuring songs such as ‘The History of Wrong Guys’ and ‘Not My Father’s Son’ – this will certainly be worth adding to your collection of theatre memorabilia.

42nd Street – DVD release: released on the same day as Kinky Boots, this dazzling and entertaining production directed by Mark Bramble is a must watch if you didn’t see it in the West End a few years ago. With spectacular choreography and huge cast, it really is a spectacle!

Back to the Future Cast Recording: tying in with the musical making its West End debut this Summer, the cast recording will also be released! Great news if you saw the show during its shortened run in Manchester and for those who have yet to experience it on stage.
